I just had the best birthday surprise ever. Ages ago I vaguely said I would like to see Richard II for my birthday but then I heard no more about it and simply thought it was sold out, however late on Friday my parents suddenly hand me an envelope. Now I thought it was driving lessons or perhaps a booking for a hotel for a night in London no, omfg no it was tickets to see Richard II. Fuck my mouth had never dropped so far in my life.
So yesterday we went up to Stratford Upon Avon and thats when things started to get brilliant. First we were walking along the river, we stopped and were taking in the view of the RSC when suddenly my dad goes “is that David Tennant?” I thought he was joking but there up on the balcony was David walking around looking very nervous and drinking a hell of a lot of water. He was the only person on his side and us on ours so naturally we ended up staring at eachother… I really wanted to wave but he just looked so deep in thought I didnt want to disturb him!
Then we went to the theatre, my seat was in stalls as a treat and so I knew I’d be pretty close but I didnt realise just how close! I was in the fourth row and right next to a platform isle where it turned out the actors continually entered and exited on, I had David’s cloak endlessly brushing against me! If the play it’s self wasn’t enough, afterwards I sprinted through a maze of people in a hope to find the stage door. I did. He came out after around 10 minutes and was incredibly friendly, wishing me happy birthday and signing my program. I was incredibly nervous he might turn out to be one of those actors who let fame go to their heads but no, he was the nicest guy I’ve ever met. And here ends the story of the best birthday surprise ever!
